Spring and Wellness

Hello Everyone,

Yes, I know, again I am saying, it has been a long time.

I will be deciding how to integrate the art and wellness blogs I have my fingers in.

 I hope that all who find their way here are doing okay!  I have been updating Quilter's Comfort pages to make it friendlier to users.  Locals are now using it, and I am really pleased.  Thank you!

I am still seeing a few clients; working on tying up loose projects so I can create space to focus on ideas flowing in the NOW.

Local Food and Local Food News have been updated - for a glimpse go to the Local Food Blog

Blessings in all,

Patricia

Updates on Web Calendar - Dolls and Wings!

Been working much behind the screen and my eyes have made it clear that I need to take more breaks.  I am always relieved when I get the bulk of pr task out of the way.  With the Cafe, there is always media to get out.

It has been somewhat quiet with the annual spring exodus of  students.

Good to have a few surprise visitors, stopping in while in town to get a little tea or to re-stock on the beer jelly.  Technology has kept me away from the kitchen, but I must get in there soon, or the jelly shelves will be pretty bare!

Sign up has begun for classes.  I will be adding other dates to the calendar.

*Sign up for Arts IN as soon as you can.  Do something different with your friends, family or date night!  These small group creative arts activities are surprising and fun.  Some people like them so much, they schedule in at least one Arts In session in a month.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you haven't had a chance to see Leslie Rodgers dolls, get in before the month ends.  If you are a lover of work with thread, or embroidery, these dolls are a real treat.  Each time I am with them, I notice a little bit more.  So much delicate, yet elaborate painting with thread!
Just updated the Cafe Calendar with information about upcoming "A Force of Nature" paintings by Joanne Shank
This exhibit plans to display a new expansiveness in Joanne's work, a blend of traditional Chinese ink painting techniques and the nature of watercolor.
Encaustic Paintings by Lisa Renee Wilson Opens in Wellness Arts Gallery
Untitled Encaustic Painting by Lisa Renee Wilson
Lisa is an awareness artist who believes in blurring the lines between studio art and the art of everyday living.  Here she explores the subtle images possible through the encaustic painting.  Encaustic is an ancient technique of painting with hot wax.
~~~~~~~~~
Join us for a reception of the artist in the Wellness Arts Gallery Friday, August 2nd, 2013 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.  The exhibit runs through September 30, 2013 and is open for viewing during "Cafe" hours.

Artist Talk and Reception
On Friday September 6th, 2013 between 5:00 and 8:00pm Lisa will be in the gallery to discuss the medium of encaustic and her current work.

Lisa Renee Wilson is an awareness artist who believes in blurring the lines between studio art and the art of everyday living.

After obtaining a degree in psychology from Indiana University in 1999, Lisa went on to study wellness, yoga, and meditation. She noticed that each path, while interesting, seemed segregated from her experience of day-to-day life. Her desire to more deeply experience the spirituality of the mundane and to creatively share what she was learning led her to the arts.

As a self-declared awareness artist, Lisa's primary desire is to be mindfully aware and in creative play with the wonders of this moment. Through ongoing play with mixed media, she discovered encaustic (hot wax painting) in 2011. While she continues to create using a variety of materials, she finds herself often returning to encaustic art. This form of expression not only allows for the integration of many of the other mediums into one spirited piece, but also invites the artist and viewer into a dance with the playful nature of wax and alluring translucency.

Lisa is most interested in creating art that summons presence, contemplation, and engagement, instead of just being aesthetically pleasing. Through each piece, she invites the viewer to breathe with her as a conversation across time and distance.

Lisa lives in Bloomington, IN with her husband and two children, who serve as excellent sources of practice and inspiration. She regularly writes online, and periodically offers classes in meditative awareness, creative exploration, and beginning encaustic.
